Thanks to Sexton Blake for pointing out the "Legend Films" website or I wouldn't have noticed that they've released "Papa's Delicate Condition" (1963) on DVD. This is a rarity from Glynis' string of Hollywood films from the early sixties. An odd little film - not too many laughs but one long smile from start to finish. I always thought it was very strange casting to have her appear as the daughter of an Italian aristocratic family married to American railroad man Jackie Gleason. I'm a big Glynis fan so somehow it works for me. It's a very nice little family movie. No listing for it on the major online stores but it is available directly from Legend. There isn't a page link (Flash) but you can go to the main site and look in the "Studio Films" section.

Do youknow anything about a sit-com Glynis did in the sixties for us tv, called, "Glynis." Only ran for one series I belive, it was shown breifly on BBC television in the UK IN 1963.
I will never forget seeing her on a chat show in Britain peforming "Send In the Clowns." very moving could very well be one of the best ever rendition of the song. Recently saw her on DVD in "While You Were Sleeping." I must check out her website. |

The first time I clocked Glynis Johns was in Mary Poppins as a lad when I was taken to see the film at the Coliseum, during its days as a cinema.
Then I saw her in A Little Night Music and Rattigan's Cause Célebre. Smashing actress! |

I went to the Coliseum Theatre last year to see Kismet starring Michael Ball.
A magnificent theatre. My wife and I had trouble finding it we it was somewhere near the St Martins Lane Theatre but we kept going around in circles. Everyone we asked kept directing us to the Royal Opera House. My first encounter with Glynis Johns was also Mary Poppins I saw it in a cinema in Paignton, Devon in 1965 |
