Default Ealing War Films (Box Set)

Ealing War Films (Box Set)

Quote:
</div><div class='quotemain'>The five films included are Next of Kin (1942), a wartime story of fifth columnists and a British commando raid that was so realistic Churchill attempted to have it banned, Nine Men (1943) a gritty war drama set in the Western Desert and Convoy (1940) another realistic depiction of war, this time at sea. The two truly outstanding films in the collection are the much-praised Angels One Five (1953), about a Hurricane Squadron during the Battle of Britain and San Demetrio London (1943), a thrilling account of the war fought in the Atlantic.[/b]
Angels One Five an Ealing film? I think not.

All very fine but who the hell wants VHS anymore? It's high time they gave up the poor old ghost and just released stuff on DVD, the players are so cheap now that most people who care seriously about films must surely own one by now.

And , yes it is intriguing how they include "Angels..." in this collection.

VHS DVD who gives a flying ........
The key thing is that it is released at all..

After all, the bulk of stuff we rely on is released on TV hence it usually ends up on on VHS anyway.
I emphathise with your good self but with the current policy on British film releases ...
Beggars can't be ??

For me ..A 5 film British release contains 3 I don't already own in any format , So I'm well chuffed (as we say in Lancashire)

Cheers

I agree, in that, yes it is better to be issued on VHS than not at all and also all 5 films are on my want list. But released on VHS only !!!! What are they playing at?
