Default Small Back Room Release

I don't know if this has been posted before (if so, I apologize), but I have just found something so exciting - The Criterion Collection: The Small Back Room by Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger

Powell & Pressburger's slightly forgotten masterpiece 'The Small Back Room' is getting the release it really deserves. Hurray!!! No more searching for £60 copies on Ebay!

Forgotten? Not by us

This is Criterion's first official announcement about it, so thanks for that. But Thelma Schoonmaker revealed that they were going to be working on it after they'd done The Thief of Bagdad. Thelma said they also hoped to release Oh... Rosalinda!! (1955) and Herzog Blaubarts Burg (1964) on another DVD. They're gradually working their way though the Powell (& Pressburger) catalogue

As for The Small Back Room, I lent them a copy of David Farrar's autobiography so that they could do some background notes on him - even though he wrote it in 1947 so it only goes up to Black Narcissus. And I've been emailing with Charles Barr to sort out some details for his commentary track.

This is exceptionally good news Criterion continue the P&P homage with aplomb.
