I see that on the 21st July Odeon Entrtainment will be releasing a couple of 701's curios :

Neither the Sea nor the Sand with Susan Hampshire
&
The Flesh and Blood Show with Jenny Hanley.

I have the former but have not seen the Jenny Hanley film, if anyone has seen this one any comments appreciated

A group of young theater actors receives the order to practice a stage play in an old and deserted theater. Orderer is an organization named "theater group of 40". But nobody knows who is behind this. A killer wait behind the curtains and old scenery. After mysterious occurrences one by one actors of the theatre troupe to go missing (it is decapitated and fragmented).

Pete Walker presents early in the film a suspected person. But this person is too suspicious.

There is many naked Scenes in the film. An actress sits naked in the theater with a knife in the back.

A other woman opens stark-naked in the middle of the night the front door (who will do that?) and a man with a knife in the belly (however that was a joke) reels in. He only wanted to frighten her (any more such scenes in the film) .

There is goose-flesh if the murderer creeps by the catacombs and some fascinating scenes.

The scene with a homeless person is succeeded and creepily. However, it is easily breaking, that the lady who is almost raped and attacked creeps without problems and alone through the properties store in the next morning. As though nothing had happened.

The viewer learns a little about the motive of the murderer and the origin of his deeds. The surviving characters also get this knowledge about dark channels. They can at least make use of this information suddenly to overwhelm the murderer. The end is a little confused.

Some scenes are very dark, but all in all a good film with scenes for amusement and fun.

Hope this helps a little and my English isn't too bad.

dinette, it might have helped if you had said that was a description of The Flesh and Blood Show (1972). At first I thought it was something for "Name this film"

It's good to see Neither the Sea Nor the Sand get a dvd release. I remember seeing it at the cinema in the 70s and recall enjoying it a lot.

I was wondering, dinette, of there are any simlar discussion sites to Britmovies about German films. Several of us here are fans of 60s German films such as the Edgar Wallace and Gerrry Cotton series, and I would appreciate the chance to practice my German, which gets very rusty between visits to Germany (I'll be there in August).

I haven't yet watched The Flesh And Blood Show but, from a quick skim through, it didn't look too hot, in fact I think I was too scared to watch upon finding that the terrifying Robin Askwith is in it!

Pete Walker's horror films veered from the almost-inspired (House Of Whipcord, Frightmare, the fine House Of Mortal Sin) through acceptable time passers (The Comeback, Die Screaming Marianne) to the execrable (the terrible Schizo). I'm guessing F+B is tending towards the bottom of the pile.

Nothing, of course, can possibly prepare you for the horror of his softcore sex romps ... Tiffany Jones, anyone?!?

(Actually, Cool It Carol isn't bad ... )
