This it? The British Cinema Collection, Vol. 1

So it's American? Thus... is it Kosher?

A legit release of Girl in the news and I have to buy 5 other films to get it Though it does look worryingly cheap - are they a genuine company?

The listing on that site says the releasing company is VCI. They brought out the Hammer Film Noir Collection on R1 a couple of years ago. They are a US company and this looks legit. The titles seem to be similar to those from Odeon so maybe VCI have the US rights to the same films.

This is their website ...

The Hammer stuff ...

VCI are a legit company who license many of their titles through Kit Parker for the USA. I have heaps of VCI discs and all are transferred from original film elements.

VCI have releases some public domain titles but all their copyrighted titles are legitimately licensed.

As Marc has mentioned already, their Hammer films were legitimately licensed from Kit Parker. Their release of Scrooge was legitimately licensed from Key Productions, a subsidiary of 20th Century Fox whereas the BBC Worldwide / Warner Home Entertainment announced release was a bootleg.

Movielover12, what did 'looking at the gist of it' entail to allow you to reach your conclusion that it is 'not legit'? ~I am curious.

But VCI were also jointly responsible (with Carlton) for the dreadful release of Colonel Blimp as an exclusive for MCV stores.

I don't know anyone who managed to find a properly working copy of that one. There was lots of "digital blocking" where the picture would freeze or judder slowly and break down into huge blocks. There was also a lot of breakthrough from one track to another. You'd be watching one scene and see ghostly images of another scene some distance away in the film

A dreadful release

I just thought that if the majority of people thought it wasn't legit, then they are right. If the majority of any kind is right, it don't matter what the "little guy" thinks.

Steve, we are talking about VCI the US company, not Video Collection International (who did Blimp), a brand name for a British Company who switched over there brand name to Cinema Club.

VCI did release an NTSC VHS of The Spy in Black though.

I have never had any problem with my copy of this MVC special DVD of BLIMP......I think it may have been due to your equipment....perhaps a DVD player 'doctored' by a retailer to be multi-region ?
