I have the R1 Sandbaggers releases which I have been watching recently.

It is quite simply one of the finest tv dramas ever made.

Quality wise, its up there with Callan, although maybe just a smidge below.

Network will be releasing Callan at some point, too.

Yes, we are getting spoiled for choice. I shall be glad to replace my Granada + SANDBAGGERS. I was warned off the R1 releases as they were said to be squeezing too much onto each disc and the resultant quality was VHS or less.

Dunno if that's right....

"AND THE SAME TO YOU" (1960), starring Brian Rix, Tommy Cooper, Vera day and Sid James, has just been released by DD Video.

"VICE VERSA" (1947) directed by Peter Ustinov, starring Roger Livesey, is to be released by Network Video.#

"VERY IMPORTANT PERSON" (1962) AND "FATHER CAME TOO" (1963) are to be issued by Network.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of The Sandbaggers R1 (I actually think they are R0) it was pretty good. They put 3-4 eps . per discs (like Network do)
The quality is not up to that of, say, Network's restored Sweeney; its more akin to a very good offair copy.

There is a nice little interview of Lonnen and Sherman, must be one of the last things that Sherman did.

"The Fallen Idol" is to be released on DVD by Optimum Releasing, it seems. No extras in the way of a commentary or interviews with Michele Morgan, Bobby Henrey or asst director Guy Hamilton. Apparantly, according to the person I spoke to at Optimum, we would not be interested in them.

Wasn't it "That Hamilton Woman" that was Churchill's favourite viewing during the war?
