Default David Buck, TVTimes cover star (1966)

This was in anticipation of the second series, starting on that 22nd October date:

The opening episode was called Room 13 and guests included Joss Ackland and a very young
Tessa Wyatt (only 18 at the time). Joss later appeared in another episode entitled A Place of
One's Own
. Any connection with the James Mason film?

yes-'a place of ones own' was written by 'osbert sitwell' and is the same story as the james mason film!

originally planned as a three disc boxset containing all the thames feature length episodes this has now been expanded to a four disc set to include the remaining ABC episodes 'the fall of the house of usher' and 'the open door'! the extras include an extract from 'casting the runes' !! hooray!! now i understand the reason for the delay!!!

Only just found your reply, Jaycad. Thanks for confirming that. I remember liking the film when it was shown on Channel 4, circa late '80s. The title was used in the very last line by James Mason as he hugged 'wife' Barbara Mullen, if I remember rightly. Corny but sweet!

That is fantastic news! I am particularly looking forward to Usher as it co-stars two long-time favourites, Denholm Elliott and Susannah York. Also in this cast is Oliver MacGreevy, a bald bit-part actor who was in quite a few things around that time (The Ipcress File and The Prisoner among them). More on this episode in post #22.

A very exciting release. Thanks again.

if i remember rightly, denholm elliot is in 'dracula' as well(sporting a slight beard) and there's an early appearance from rachael guerney in (i think the episode is)'the open door'! i can't wait for the release even though i already have all the episodes it'll be good to watch the remastered copies! my favourite is 'uncle silas'-very atmospheric!

The Denholm Elliott Dracula is excellent, plus it has the bonus of the young Susan George and Nina Baden-Semper too.

Mystery and Imagination can be pre-ordered for as low as £17.99 apparently at MovieMail. Not sure if this is a mistake or not but my order has been accepted. Looking forward to seeing this set.

i'm a bit concerned about the scheduled monday 3rd august release date-usually network have a 'buy now' option on the friday before a monday release but there's none showing on M&I,this happened with 'the mind of j.g.reeder' a fortnight ago and the release was re-scheduled for august 3rd! i've been waiting for what seems like years to see the re-mastered versions since network announced their intentions to release them!!!
