Default THE LONDON COLLECTION - DVD Set

MovieMail is listing this new boxed set for June 1st but so far I haven't been able to find a listing or other details for it anywhere else. Does anyone know just how many films it contains and what the titles are? This listing shows "The Small World of Sammy Lee", "The Yellow Balloon" and "Pool of London" (Yes!!!! - one of my favourite Ealing films at last being released on DVD). Looks like there just might be other films in the box.

Any idea of the likely quality of the "Sammy Lee" DVD ? Does the company have a decent track record. I don't want to get over excited, but.....

That's the problem - I've no idea who's putting this out. I can't find any other listing for it except the one on MovieMail and it really doesn't tell us very much.

As my link shows it's most likely going to be Optimum.

At the NFT screening in mid-March, during the conversation with producer Frank Godwin, it was stated that Optimum have the rights. The NFT showed a great print so, hopefully, the DVD will be just as good.

The film's a wonderful evocation of Soho in the early sixties with a fantastic central performance from Anthony Newley and a stellar array of familiar British faces in support. I can't wait!

(Now if only somebody could find elements of THE PARTY'S OVER for a DVD release.)

This was due to be released today, however on checking my Amazon account they are now saying the release date is the 15th June , only two weeks away but it's still frustrating !

play.com have always listed 15th June as the release date for this. Coming from Optimum I hope they make a good job of this release but the omens are not good....
