Apologies if this has been mentioned before...

In Criterion's August newsletter there's a small message saying that "The Tales Of Hoffmann DVD is currently wrapping up production!". So it looks like this much delayed DVD is finally about to see the light of day, probably some time next year (or maybe the year after [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img] ).

Release date Nov 22nd 2005. Features the short "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (1955). There's an audio commentary from historian Bruce Eder and fan Martin Scorcese. I would have preferred one with cinematographer Christopher Challis and historian Ian Christie.

Although that date might get put back a few times, release dates for other Criterion DVDs have suffered that. But there's also a new introduction from long time ToH fan, George A. Romero.
