Wonder if it's still funny ? I remember liking it at the time (just after The Army Game).
No connection really, but my mum worked in the tobacconists/sweetshop behind Liverpool Playhouse in the 1930s and said that Allfie Bass was actually an arrogant little sod and they dreaded him coming into the shop. Michael Redgrave, on the other hand, was a perfect gentleman although he scarpered at the end of the week without paying his 'slate' which then came out of mum's wages.
If true, it's interesting that Bass - the 'loveable' one - was not so nice in real life while Bill Fraser - the 'bully' of the pair - was actually a kind and generous true gent.

I met Alfie Bass in the early 1960's whilst he was doing B & S and he was a very friendly likeable bloke. I was coming home from school and sat next to him on the bus!! We got talking, at my instigation, as I was a big fan of The Army Game and the follow up. He was fine.

You judge as you find.

I caught these on the Granada Plus repeats and must say that I found them very enjoyable and quite looked forward to the next one each week. I shall invest in this boxed set at some time I'm sure...

I have n't seen then since I was a kid but remember enjoying them. I will have to treat myself as I am a great fan of anything by Took and Feldman.
