Default Hammer box set: Icons of Suspense

I see Sony have announced an Icons Of Suspense, Hammer Box for next year (no date yet), it contains:

The Full Treatment
Cash On Demand
Never Take Sweets From A stranger
Maniac
The Snorkle
The Damned

No mention of any war films, & I think this may be the last Sony/Hammer Box (I can't remember where I read that). So maybe America won't be getting Camp On Blood Island & Yesterdays Enemy. The only one on that list I really want is The Damned, & I'll be buying that along with the two war films.

Apparently the other Hammer war film, STEEL BAYONET, isnt owned by Sony. MGM/FOX have the rights to this. Shame is its a cracking war film

Really? I've never seen THE SNORKEL or NTSFAS, and COD and MANIAC are both decent films - I'd need to look THE FULL TREATMENT to even know what it is - so that box is a no brainer for me (it'll likely be very reasonably priced too) and I'll just be getting YESTERDAY'S ENEMY and CAMP from Moviemail.

Both The Snorkel ans NTSFAS are very good films and The Full Treatment is a very intriguing thriller with Ronald Lewis and Diane Cilento, as you say really a no-brainer and it'll be good to have decent prints at last

Can't wait for this, I'd love a crisp print of COD and The Snorkel.

Agreed

All we need now is a release date.

Same here, and the earlier sets in this range have been quite nice, thank you...

This is great news.

I believe a handful of the war films (Yesterday's Enemy, Camp on Blood Island) are getting R2 releases soon.

I'm sure I'll end up buying it, but it hasn't got a release date yet, & then there's a couple of months wait 'till it gets nice & cheap on Amazon Marketplace. So I will be buying The Damned (I've waited too long for that damned film!), it will be good to have a stand alone R2 of it. As far as I can see, the best film after The Damned is, Cash On Demand, I've read some good things about that.

Don't think I could wait that long! though I suspect release date will be late 2010!

Excellent news, this set. Saw Cash on Demand at the BFI a few weeks ago and was really impressed with it. Better yet, my wife (a decidedly non-Hammer fan) liked it too

Didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, apologies if it has. The forthcoming region 1 release The William Castle Film Collection will contain Castle's only film for Hammer, The Old Dark House. It's not great but for completists it's a must have.

Films Wanted:
THE BIG DAY (1960)
DON'T PANIC CHAPS! (1959)

PM for trade list, Thanks!

Sky Movies had a lovely copy of this a while back which I recorded. Absolutely, totally unfunny and un-scarey, I'm afraid.

Yeah, it's pretty horrible. But as a Castle and Hammer fan (and as my wife is fond of pointing out, with more money than sense) I have to get it anyway
