Default On The Buses

The ultimate DVD box set collection of the hit Brit television comedy series 'On The Buses' is due for release in September - in Canada.

The collection covers the complete seven series of the show. Thats around 74 episodes.
The complete series has never been previously released anywhere in the world.

I hope this means the same collection will also be released in the UK, Australia and the rest of the world sometime soon.

Dave.

It probably won't be.
if it's anything like the complete Monty Python set thats only available in America even though we as licence payers paid for it it really bloody annoys me that.

Hi Dave

Network DVD have been releasing the On the buses series in the uk and have relesaed up to series 5 so far and will be bringing series 6 out in September, so hopefully series 7 will follow. On Play.com at the moment there selling series 1 and 2 for £6.99 each which works out at 50p an episode so quite a bargain.

Hi Bob,

I purchased the complete series one and two on DVD some time ago. I later purchased the 'Best Of Series 3 and 4' box set, because at the time that was all that was on offer. The 'Catch 22' is that I'm still 10 episodes (not included in the set) short of completing the collection for series 3 and 4.
Do I bite the bullet and pay out for the 'Ultimate' 7 series collection or do I try to pick up odd episodes and series along the way?

Dave

I remember the set that you bought came out a few years ago and then after that Network brought out there DVDs of On the buses. I think I would go for the Network DVDs as it will save you having two copies of Series I & 2 and there releases of series 3 and 4 are complete and not best of.

Episode list from Network DVD for series 3:
1.First Aid
2.The Cistern
3.The Inspector's Niece
4.Brew It Yourself
5.Busman's Perks
6.The Snake
7.Mum's Last Fling
8.Radio Control
9.Foggy Night
10.The New Uniforms
11.Going Steady
12.The Squeeze
13.On The Make

Episode list from Network DVD for series 4:
1.Nowhere To Go
2.The Canteen Girl
3.Dangerous Driving
4.The Other Woman
5.Christmas Duty
6.The 'L' Bus
7.The Kid's Outing
8.The Anniversary
9.Cover Up
10.Safety First
11.The Lodger
12.The Inquiry
13.Not Tonight

Here’s also a price list I’ve taken from Play.com just in case the Canadian boxset is cheaper.

Series 1 £6.99 (1 disc)
Series 2 £6.99 (1 disc)
Series 3 £14.99 (2 discs)
Series 4 £14.99 (2 discs)
Series 5 £13.99 (2 discs)
Series 6 £9.99 (1 disc) released in September

Shortcut to: http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=r2title&searchstring=on+the +buses&page=search&pa=search&go.x=36&go.y=10

I’ve also put an Email link so you can have a look for yourself. It’s a tricky decision as there’s never a straight forward solution. I think by Christmas Series 3, 4 and 5 will be down to £10 so if you can hold on i'd wait till then, but let me know what you decide.

Bob.

Cheers Bob,

Thanks for the information.
I have checked Play.com out many times and they certainly do have a lot of bargains. There is one big problem for me though, Play.com only deliver to the UK and certain parts of Europe. Some Euro rule that they have to abide by.

Certain DVD releases of British drama and comedy seem to take years to get released in Australia - and sometimes not at all. Its difficult to know whether the Network releases will ever reach Oz.
Purchasing titles overseas can also be expensive. The Aussie dollar currently has a low conversion rate against sterling.
That is why the Canadian 'On The Buses' release is inviting.
As you suggest Bob, I may hold my horses for awhile and see what develops in the market.

Dave.
