A marvelous transfer. I have now purchased a grand total of three new Criterion Collection DVD's. The price is usually way too prohibitive for me to get them when they come out; however, I've made the sacrifice for these new one's:

Victor Erice's Spirit of the Beehive (a 1973 Spanish film, which had an indelible influence on Guillermo Del Toto's recent, ambitious Spanish Civil War ghost stories, both told from the child's perspective: The Devil's Backbone & Pan's Labyrinth).


The other new one, was Kon Ichikawa’s majestic, spiritual war taleThe Burmese Harp

These are films I could watch every other week, ad infinitum, without tire!
