It doesn't give any region coding information on that page.
DVD Pacific usually do titles for Australasia, which is region 4. But they might be doing it as "region 0" (i.e. no region encoding). Email them and ask

At least Region 4 would be PAL... so no NTSC-PAL stutter if it is R4.

The cover looks exactly the same as the Region 1 release though... I too wish they had region info on that site.

And the text on that site says...

This DVD presents, for the first time in the US, the fully restored 95 minute version as seen by British audiences...
Which does suggest its the R1 NTSC release on that site.

No, DVD Pacific sell *only* R1 American (not Canadian) sourced discs; it is definitely NTSC R1, and, being Columbia / Sony, it is RCE protected (though most multi-region DVD players ignore this anyway).

It's a very nice 1.66:1 anamorphic transfer, but I'd hang on for a few weeks and see what DDHE come up with - one of the rumours from a poster at DVD Times says it may include the 1979 ITV production of MR James 'Casting The Runes'.

I can't wait. I tried to, but I cannot. I've just ordered the Region 1 NTSC.

I'll replace it with the PAL when it comes out... but we wants it... we needs it... it is our precioussssssss.

Ooops... I just turned Gollum for a moment then

Definitely worth getting for the extras, looks like the rumour may be correct about 'Casting the Runes'. Tony Earnshaw, who wrote the book on the making of the film mentions it on his website:

Excellent... I have 'Beating the Devil'... his book... should be an excellent 15 minute short with him involved.

I don't regret ordering the Region 1... but I'll replace it with the Region 2 when it is released... that 15 minute short will help make it worthwhile... irradication of the hated PAL-NTSC stutter (is that becoming my catch-phrase???) will be another reason.

I just couldn't wait until the Autumn... and remember, releases often get postponed.

Apparently Casting the Runes is being allowed out on it own 27 August, ahead of being a part of the Night of the Demon package released on 17 September.

In the meantime there is an excellent book on the making of the movie 'Beating the Devil: The Making of Night of the Demon' by Tony Earnshaw - excellent read. Apparently Dana Andrews was drinking heavily during the production - could explain his slighlty uncommitted performance

It is a good book, but it disappointed me slightly. There is a lot of padding in the book including a scene by scene guide to the movie... assuming that those who read the book are familiar with the movie, one wonders how necessary that was.

I don't want to slight the book... I just expected more from it.

Hearing the bad news about DD entertainment... thank goodness I caved in and bought the Region 1. Maybe 'Night of the Demon' will come out in Region 2... but probably not when previously expected.

The company due to release it went bust, ending the deal, and the company that bought their assets did not pursue it (or any of the other Columbia films).

Really? Last I read they were still pursuing it or has that now officially changed?
