Default Alastair Sim boxed set

Does anyone else yelp when they see an announcement for a DVD release you've been waiting for? Sad really, but today was a "three-yelper" . . .

Optimum have announced for release on September 17th an Alastair Sim boxed set, containing:

The Green Man (again)
Left, Right and Centre
Geordie
Folly to be Wise . . .

. . . and the one that makes it worth it for me, Laughter in Paradise. Heaven!

Yelp number two was a confirmation that Rudolph Cartier's 1984 is being prepared for release.

Number three (sad to admit) was that DDHE plan to release the epic 80s TV mini, The Last Days of Pompeii. I loved this when it was first screened and still remember the music. Olivier, Quayle AND Ernest Borgnine ...

One of my favourite actors, but I would have been more impressed if 20th Century Fox would release the Inspector Hornleigh series.

I've got 2/3 of the 1968 Cold Comfort Farm (with Alastair as Amos Starkadder) on tape from the US, and am waiting for the remaining part to arrive before I settle down to watch it.

Superb actor, glad I"ll be able to get a new box set soon.
I pass his birth place most weeks in Edinburgh and usually find a memory ( or two )
to smile at.:)

agreed to. remember them from CH4 years ago. Seeing the 3 movies I noticed that Edward Chapman played different characters in 2 of movies. Also noticed that Gordon Harker turns up in 'Left, Right and Centre' opposite Sim - minus his legs by then though. Think that must have been his last film

Yes! Inspector Hornleigh was brilliant. I bought two of the three (?) movies recently and was surprised at just how good they were. A proper release is long overdue for these gems I reckon!
