Default R2 DVD: Simba (1955) w Dirk Bogarde , Donald Sinden

R2 DVD: Simba (1955) w Sir Dirk Bogarde and Sir Donald Sinden is in this set....

Donald Sinden Icon Box Set (12 Discs)
Due for release on 17/09/2007

Donald Sinden is a national treasure and with his cosy familiar voice, a flagship for all things English. A stalwart of the Royal Shakespeare Company he first acted at the Brighton Little Theatre (of which he later became President) in 1941 and broke into professional acting after appearing in revues for the armed forces during the Second World War. He subsequently appeared in many British films of the 1950s, some of which are showcased in this 12 disc collection.

Is Donald Sinden still with us? I always thought "The Cruel Sea "one of his best. I believe he had a son who was a succesful actor but who died at a very young age.Sinden belongs to that old school of gentlemen British actors and its an old school that I personnaly quite like!!

Jeremy Sinden died of cancer in 1996 aged 45. He seemed to specialise in cads or toffs, from what I can remember - Danger UXB and Lord Peter Wimsey spring too mind.

Jeremy Sinden was also excellent as 'Boy' Mulcaster is Brideshead Revisited ... the sequence where 'Boy' took Ryder and Flyte to a dodgy bar is hilarious.

He is one of the crooks trying to bump off the lovely Muriel Pavlow. The delicious Belinda Lee is a nurse!

Start every day with a smile and get it over with.
