An interesting second-take on the poster art
The Man Who Could Cheat Death (1959) DVD
Where did you see this for sale? It isn't coming up on the R1 online sellers that I've searched on.
It's from Legend Films along with a widescreen edition of The Skull and The Deadly Bees.
Check out their website.

Thanks for the pointer. First time I've run across this outfit. How's their quality? Looks like a fair bit of public domain stuff but they do advertise restoration as one of their strong points so it'll be interesting to see what sort of a job they do on this one. There's no listing yet on Amazon (.com or .ca), Barnes & Noble, Chapters or any of the other large NTSC online sellers. I daresay it'll show up. Legend doesn't have a direct shopping cart.
Quality is very good, they are known for adding colour to black and white movies which I don't have a problem with as they also include a restored black and white print on the discs. I got mine via amazon uk or on ebay. It is possible to order direct from Legend but I haven't used their store as yet.

I just noticed the "BUY" button which isn't apparent until you go into the individual film listing. There doesn't seem to be a login page or a shopping cart button so I guess you buy them one at a time - ???? Interesting little website.
Once you've put am item into the cart you are able to return to the main page.
Does anybody have the recently issued Italian DVD - and does it contain the legendary Hazel Court topless scene?

I already have the US Legend Films disc. I'm very curious about this Italian release. It's more than likely the same version but you never know!

Sadly, for Hammer fans, this Italian DVD has the UK/US print. Still, it is region 2 if you don't own a multi-region player.
Thanks for confirming this. That's saved me a few euros.![]()
Unfortunately, the region 1 transfer was not made from an interpositive and has a very 'dupey' and contrasty look and therefore does not replicate Jack Asher's fine photography represented in the original 35mm Technicolor prints. I have seen an original print in the last couple of years so I know how it should look.
Paramount should have gone to the expense of creating a new interpositive from the coriginal camera negative.
However, "The Skull" looks excellent and looks as though it was made from a 35mm colour interpositve (a film element that is ideal for use in telecine transfer).

The sound in The Man Who Could Cheat Death is also quite muffled. The Skull print is much better overall.
