Am I dreaming?!? It's Charlie Bubbles!
Play.com (UK) : Charlie Bubbles : DVD - Free Delivery
Probably too much to hope that it's 16:9, cleaned-up, etc ... especially at this price ... but even so ... !
(Needless to say, the Fremantle site makes no mention of it whatsoever.)

This is really great news, many thanks for posting. I hope this turns out to be a genuine release, a truly great British film with expert direction from Mr Finney .
Can I finally put my ancient off-air VHS copy in the bin?

Don't bin the vhs til you've actually watched the DVD! Fortunately my recording from Sky is pretty good, and quite honestly my home-made artwork is about 1000 times better (why are DVD covers so awful - Warners aside) ... but I'd love to see this film 'out there' ...
What next, I wonder?
It's about time!
Its gone through the BBFC and listed as widescreen rating PG. :)
Yes, a nice anamorphic print, good sound, no unnecessary extras ... and just £5.99 from Play (I think it's £7.99 in shops?).
In fact, everything a DVD should be!
ON EDIT: so much for the rumour I heard that the negative was unusable and therefore it would never be released on home video (that never stopped it getting on BBC, Channel 4 and Sky, anyway).
I watched the DVD last night and the print looks fabulous. You'd never think the film is more than 40 years old. The Extras, a gallery of about a dozen stills, is a wonderful bonus. There must have been more pictures of the supporting cast, including Wendy Padbury and George Innes, as I've got a feeling all actors are photographed either on set or for publicity. Can anyone confirm this (like Harry Fielder)?
I must get this on DVD and I seem to remember seeing Wendy Padbury's character carrying a large doll and she gave Liza Minelli a dirty look when she said her doll looked really cute?
I've also heard (either from a magazine or video/DVD interview) that Wendy had the chance to play a school girl in the 1968 film 'The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie'.
But she chose the Dr Who companion job instead because she'd always adored Patrick Troughton.
