Wonderful news! Although this film would appear to be forgotten, it has in fact been the focus of a determined campaign by fans to prise it out of Sony's vaults. So please support this release (which has a splendid roster of favourite character actors) in the hope that more will follow.

I've read the novel, and thought it was one of Amis's weaker and most dated ones. Is the film well acted ? I don't recall there being much "action" in the story at all.

One funny thing in the novel: Amis was apparently not allowed to write "... as the actress said to the bishop !", and so it had to be turned into an acronym !

Has anybody bought this new DVD release? I'm wondering what the aspect ratio of the DVD is (I recorded it from SimplyMovies and it was a low resolution 1.78:1 broadcast, presumably zoomed in?). I don't to waste my money on the DVD if it's only 4:3.

I've just bought this and it's in dreaded 4:3! I do wish DVD companies would respect the original aspect ratio of the film, which, in this case, was filmed in 16:9.

Isn't this being trailed somewhere on TV at the moment? I am sure I have seen a trailer while 'flicking' through the stations might have been Simply Movies.
