It is interesting to note that for the first time I can ever recollect, Network have no new releases of any kind showing in the forseeable future. Their page is empty.

Could it be that they are now feeling the credit squeeze with large numbers of DVDs from their existing catalogue lying in their warehouse and not moving?

I would have thought that with the approach of Christmas this was the very time to bring out a some new releases

To be fair the music bizz is the same, you get no 'original' releases till after Xmas just loads of 'Best of...' albums. Maybe they don't want any new titles to be buried amongst the Crimbo shopping spree as they haven't really a big promotional budget.

Yes you are probably right. it will be interesting to see if anything appears this side of Christmas since they do have quite a few titles outstanding which are mid way through a series and at least some of these should be good enough sellers.

Over at The Mausoleum Club, Mr Wolf has confirmed that Christmas is a retail dead zone for new Network products hence the lack of forthcoming releases on their website.

You are confirming what DB7 has said. I would have thougt however that if this was a dead period on Network then the post Christmas period is unlikely to produce many sales since the avarage person following Chritmas has no money left to spend on luxuries such as DVDs in the new year period?

Also, Network have just renewed their agreement with ITV, so perhaps they were waiting to see how negotiations went before finalising any new product.

I'm mainly interested in Network's ITC output, but there are still some obscure stuff for them to release from the ITV catalogue, so this is indeed good news.

Do the ITC soundtracks come under the same agreement? If so, it should mean that there are plenty more to come!

As Christmas is a retail dead zone for Network, is this a sign that we all rush out and buy such releases close to their release date and are too impatient to wait or add them to the Crimbo list? I'm certainly guilty of this and seldom wait for prices to drop or trust relatives to buy the right thing!

It really depends on the release. Most of Network's releases are long awaited titles that I want immediately on the date of release, however there are some that I would like but I'm not in any rush to get. These titles are ideal for Christmas presents particularly as I'm so hard to buy for other than classic tv/film.

Network have just announced the web-exclusive of the hour long DANGER MAN episodes soundtrack, so things seem to be trundling on in the audio department too...

Very pleased to see that Netwotk have announced the release, on 11th February, of the complete series of Will Shakespeare from 1978 starring Tim Curry.

Would be nice if they could continue to release the series "Sykes." Only one series so far, and that was released many years ago
