Should I give a toss.............................. or pay through the nose in HMV ?
I'm completely anti-bootleg. I understand the temptations, but you'll end up paying organised crime or terrorists, even if not immediately.

That's a good argument for not paying taxes
Oh no, you said organised crime. There's not much organised about the government

I have never completely understood that claim that bootleg funds organised crime. I mean, organised crime is usually self funding like drug dealing and arms dealing, right? It is not like they are flogging The Railway Children and giving away heroin is it?

Nah its not self-funding. They tend to make money off the misery of others. They'll make money any way they can.

If you want organised crime that is self-funding... look no further than your local bank - they're always giving themselves our money!

Insurance companies give banks a good run for their money on that point.Bet most of those poor people in the West Country will still be waiting for payout in 6 months time.

<<I'm tempted to buy cheapo Hitchcock and Classic Brit Films ( Night To Remember, Ryan's Daughter, Etc. ) DVD's from E-Bay, but I'm fairly convinced that they will be pirated copies shipped from the Orient.>>

Many of these titles have in the past been on SALE legally at HMV for £2.99......so why bother with bootlegs which have **no** re-sale value at all ?

Here in Canada, anything sent from outside the country is subject to import tax. Our limit is 20 dollars. Quite often the packages get by without duty charges, either their is not enough individuals to process the packages or maybe they do not understand the foreign currency amounts. From what i am told, people who live in the US pay the least import duties.
