Fans of ITC series will be pleased to know that Network have just announced on their website that they will be releasing the complete series of this in April.

The only thing I remember about it is the excellent but sadly underused John Gregson as Ms Maclaine's boss. IIRC it was shown on Sunday lunchtimes in London Weekend land.

What a pleasant surprise this is. I don't think it was well-received and I've read in Roy Pickard's biography that Shirley MacLaine fell out with producer Sheldon Leonard, but it's something I never thought I'd see. And you're right, John Gregson will be worth watching. I don't know what you mean by"under-used" though as he was regularly in work and starred in Gideon's Way!

Lew Grade cancelled Shirley's World after 17 episodes, all of which are included I hope.

I meant under-used in relation to Shirley's World.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, dpgmel. I'm still waiting (like Diana Ross) for Gideon's Way to go back to the £20 it was at Amazon so haven't seen John in that yet, but I thought he was outstanding in a very downbeat episode of Man In A Suitcase.

As for Shirley, sometimes I like her, sometimes I don't - she was loveable and brilliant in The Apartment, Irma La Douce and Sweet Charity, but Terms Of Endearment was a horrible experience. I was also outraged by her crazy behaviour on Michael Aspel's chat show when she kept smacking fellow-guest Mel Smith on the back of the head. He laughed it off with "This is sexual harassment" but it turned me against her. Better to remember her when she was young (not the first that applies to). Also worth noting is that her screen debut was in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble With Harry.

I thought Network were going to release these shows this month?

Apparently not, the release dates have been put back to who knows when
