Quite a few new ones to look forward to between now and June, including several that we've not seen on DVD or tape. Odette was supposed to be released a few months ago but never quite made it. Let's hope this new one (promised for May 4th) makes it on time.

    The Weapon

    Dunkirk

    Painted Smile/Rag Doll

    Trouble Brewing

    Keep Your Seats, Please

    Ukelele Man

    The Last Grenade

    Geordie

    Odette

The Happiest Days Of Your Life

    Painted Boats

    For Those In Peril

    My Learned Friend

Is that The Painted Smile I mentioned at the Kenneth Griffith thread a few days ago (starring Liz Fraser)? That would be great news. IMDB informs me there's a Rag Doll starring Jess Conrad and also featuring Kenneth Griffith. These are surely the films in that DVD release.

I was unaware of Painted Boats until it was illustrated at Name That Film. Some interesting films there, particularly The Happiest Days Of Your Life.

Thanks for the confirmation. I hope I can get the DVD at a good price, preferably under a fiver.

Yes some good and about time legit releases there, especially pleased that Stanley Baker's The Last Grenade will be coming out all the more so as it features the lovely Ms Blackman.

Trouble Brewing has a fine performance by Basil Radford in the key role of 'Uncredited drunk at party' and for that reason alone deserves a place on the shelves of anyone who claims to be a serious film fan. Painted Boats is, er, historically interesting but is only an hour long. In an ideal world the disc would be padded out with MOI shorts but I suspect the distributors will hope we don't know how long it is.

I checked the ones that interested me and Optimum are releasing Odette. Presumably they will be releasing them all.

I'm chuffed at that one, too. I've got a copy from Sky Movie some years back, but a nice widescreen version of the film would be just the job. It's certanly no classic, and really needs the help of a nice looking print with the correct aspect ratio.

Hope I'm not being too optimistic!

Mrs Chevy will be delighted at the Odette release; it's been on her list for some time
