Mmm, much as I love the show this seems to be same as their recent dvd box set. Not sure if its worth a double dip. But if anyone hasn't got it then a worthwhile purchase!
“THE PRISONER THE COMPLETE SERIES” (PG)
Network DVD’s first ever Blu-ray title will be a special-features laden THE PRISONER THE COMPLETE SERIES (PG) starring Patrick McGoohan. Available to buy as a 6-disc limited edition box set on 28th September 2009, RRP £59.99, this will be the first Blu ray version of the series anywhere in the world.
The only home entertainment edition of the series to be officially endorsed by McGoohan himself and based on the version of the standard definition DVD which won Best TV DVD at the Home Entertainment Awards in 2007, THE PRISONER THE COMPLETE SERIES BLU-RAY is thought-provoking, revelatory and just plain cool. McGoohan's iconic series is as fresh and dynamic now as it was when first unleashed upon an unsuspecting world in 1967. Containing all seventeen episodes the wealth of special features include:
- “Don’t Knock Yourself Out” a feature-length documentary which is the most comprehensive look at the production of ‘The Prisoner’, told by those involved in its creation
- Restored original edit of ‘Arrival’ with an optional music-only soundtrack featuring Wilfred Josephs’ complete and abandoned score
- Production Crew audio commentaries on seven episodes
- Trailers for all episodes
- Archive textless material, including the title sequence with clean themes by Ron Grainer, Wilfred Josephs and Robert Farnon
- Commercial Break Bumpers
- Behind-the-Scenes footage including much previously unseen
- Script and Production Documentation PDFs
- Image Galleries with Music Suites
- Exclusive book on the making of the series by TV historian Andrew Pixley
- 5.1 sound mixes on all episodes

I see Christopher Nolan has jumped off the band-wagon.

Let's hope nobody decides to colourise Danger Man............![]()
I have my set and it's absolutely fantastic, a genuine step up from the previous Network box set - see this review at DVD Times, and the screencaps here at DVD Beaver. I've also put up a couple of pack shots here.
There's only one caveat - some Blu-ray machines don't seem to like disc 6...
I was browsing there yesterday. Pictorially very impressive.... again.name='John Hodson'] I have my set and it's absolutely fantastic, a genuine step up from the previous Network box set - see this review
Not having a bluray and being hardly likely to get one this side of who knows when, the fate of Number Six is immaterial to me........name='John Hodson']

I suppose I should have waited till they just issued the discs alone in the smaller box - but I didn't...
Mighty fine picture quality - I am spotting stuff and thinking, "Now why have I never noticed that before...?" LOL

Anyone had a chance to checkout the Blu-Ray boxed set of The Prisoner?
I haven't bought it yet, but a mate showed me a random sample from his set and we compared them with the (original) DVD set I have. The picture quality is noticeably improved. The sound is superior too, though I think new sound effects have been added to some scenes for the 5.1. Loads of extras too. When money is more fluid, harry, I will certainly be upgrading to the BD.
I couldn't stop myself buying this the other week when it dropped to £32 but felt the dreaded pang of DVD/Blu-ray guilt unitil I saw it on the screen. It is simply stunning and for me definitive, it looks like it was shot yesterday. The bulk of the extras are the same as Network's DVD release including Andrew Pixley's book but its worth noting that these are presented on DVD discs not Blu-ray. The flaws from the DVD release seem to have been sorted. The 5.1 sounds OK to me but I have only watched three episodes so far.
Someone on Amazon was miffed that Blu-ray forced him to watch it in 4:3 - which is true - and recommended upscaling the DVD version through HDMI as it was just as good.....its not.
Go on, buy it!
You guys have confirmed what i thought, i will have to order the set pronto. I think Amazon are still the cheapest. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for that. I've been waiting for confirmation that the issues that clouded the previous DVD release (see link below) had been dealt with.

I cannot believe the difference in price on this box set, from £32.77 to £59.99!
