Unless something has turned up recently only one episode survives from series 1 - The Frighteners. Incidentally your link does not seem to work.

A second seaon one episode turned up a few years ago in the UCLA film archive , The Girl on the Trapese, along with the first 15 minutes or so of the first ever episode, Hot Snow. The Girl on the Trapese is excellent, showing off Ian Hendry's remarkable physical dexterity, a side of his abilities not often seen.

I'll be buying this set the minute it comes out and with a big smile on my face!

I have 'The Frighteners' and episodes featuring Dr King (Jon Rollason) and Venus Smith (Julie Smith) on a VHS set called Avengers Evolution with some of the Cathy Gale episodes (inc the first one). I always found the Rigg/Thorson episodes inferior to these early episodes so this new set will almost certainly be finding it's way into The Batcave.

I've only just seen a couple of Cathy Gale episodes and they're not bad - would be very interested to see episodes with Ian Hendry as well so may well add this to the wishlist.

The ones I enjoyed the most were the Emma Peel ones. Tara ones - All Done With Mirrors excepted - are a bit of a bore, really, and Ms Thorson was always rather annoying!

The early Avengers series - all series 2 plus the one episode (at the time)remaining from series 1 were available from Holland and can still be found at times on Amazon Market Place and Ebay. So in effect all this new release gives us is the aditional found episode from series 1 plus part of the pilotl episode.

Not a lot bearing in mind the price being asked?

It will however now make thse episodes generally available once more which cannot be a bad thing.

i think linda thorsen got some stick because she played a character that was young and infatuated with a charming and well experienced( in the trade )man - and did it well.

the episodes that she appeared in perhaps suffered from " americanised"british excentricity ( the over use of " mother" etc)

other than that i found them still very entertaining .

it still had style and poor linda had a tough act to follow .

    Excellent news.

These have just gone through the BBFC (looks like the complete Cathy Gale collection) so a release from Optimum is doubless due in the near future.

Commentaries on several episodes and also the surviving couple of Ian Hendry episodes have been included as well.

Previously only available on Dutch DVD.

Also previously available in USA - region 1 although only half the episodes from series 2 were included.

The Dutch set are very good quality and far better than the American ones.
