Summer Scars

Watched Summer Scars in my local cinema and it reminded me of Dead Man's Shoes.



A gang of hoodies are held hostage in the woods by a deranged AWOL soldier.



Great performances all round and an ending that made me squirm in my seat.



The director (Julian Richards) and lead actor (Kevin Howarth) previously did The Last Horror Movie.



The DVD comes out September 28th and added value includes a "Making Of" documentary, directors commentary and a short film that inspired the feature.



Verdict: Recommended



If you enjoyed Stand By Me, Mean Creak, Bully, Deliverence, Eden Lake, Dead Man's Shoes, A Room For Romeo Brass, then you might like Summer Scars.

Stranger-in-the-woods, coming-of-age thriller recommended by nymus



Based on a true story, SUMMER SCARS is similar to THE BOYS CLUB (1997, Canada) dir. John Fawcett.



Lengthy opening credits - nearly four minutes - are an introduction to the characters.



Excellent performances from Amy Harvey, Jonathan Jones, Darren Evans, Christopher Conway - and Kevin Howarth as 'Peter', echoing Chris Penn's role in THE BOYS CLUB.
