Children's drama series, filmed on the West Somerset Steam Railway

The Carter family lose their garage business and decide to operate the local steam preservation railway.

Dad Bob becomes driver of 'The Flockton Flyer', a restored 1931 GWR locomotive.

This is really exciting news - especially for Sheila Fearn's fans here. I don't think I watched any of it at the time and have only come across the occasional mention in books or at Sheila's thread. Co-starring Gwyneth Strong and Peter Duncan when they were very young, some of the guest stars are an added incentive to check this out: Patrick Mower, Gerald Harper, Harry Fowler ...

As this was an ITV series from the '70s, I'll be glad to oblige for anyone who wishes to view any TVTimes articles and listings. Very happy for those who've waited a long time to see it. Thanks for the 'tip-off', Maurice!

Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for the similarly-titled Flaxton Boys to appear.

Found this earlier while browsing the issue for that week. I've just been re-aquainted with Magpie,

which ended that year, as the DVD arrived this week. Sad viewing at times (but Happy Days then):

I only know Gwyneth from this line-up but I'm sure the cast will all be very familiar to me in time.

Any other memories of this series, Maurice?

I vaguely recall watching this series at the time, in one scene Peter Duncan unintentionally falls off a stool he's be sitting on, no time for retakes i guess!
