This Anna Neagle film is usually seen in prints with very faded and washed out colour, including the Optimum dvd release from a year or two back in their "Anna Neagle Collection".

However, an excellent print with full rich colour is available for free download at the Prelinger Archives:

Internet Archive: Free Download: Sixty Glorious Years

The print can be watched as a streaming video or downloaded and saved to disc. Also on the archive are a few other British feature films including some Alfred Hitchcock's and a few Gainsborough Arthur Askey / Crazy Gang comedies. Most of the films though are from American "Poverty Row" studios such as Monogram, Grand National, Pilgrim Pictures etc, but all can be viewed or downloaded free.

If only such an on-line archive existed for the many 30s and 40s British films that are effectively Public Domain except for the letter of the law!

There's some fabulous stuff on the Internet Archive although its search function sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. Great news about this one as it is a good film and the washed-out colour did it no favours at all.

Am I right in remembering the original technicolour negative was destroyed in a fire or lab accident, which is why print quality has been so poor on previous versions of this film?
