Default The Dark Man

I have questions; where was it shot? And the original film was about 90mins whereas the dvd is about 75mins?

I believe it was filmed in Hastings and the Romney Marsh area. The shorter print was for the USA. I have only ever seen the shorter version and would hope that the longer one could explain some of the bizarre plotting.

According to an IMDB comment:

This was the first video i bought to go with my new video player about a decade ago. Having spent a part of my childhood in the area where it was filmed it was fun to spot the locations, the heroine getting on the bus to go to the beach at what looks like Hastings only to get off near the Romney marshes, which is some way to go for a quick bit of sunbathing. The story of the criminal classes up to no good and an innocent bystander in danger has been told many times before, and since. Maxwell Reed as the moody Dark Man is worth the price of the video alone, William Hartnell ( future Dr who)always watchable. But the main reason is seeing the final scenes at the "pre-nuclear" Dungeness coastline. The only negative is with the UK video release which has part of the story missing, I assume this is a copy of the US release which was shorter.

Think you're right there with Dungeness.

This old picture of Hastings sea front bears a resemblance to the scene at the start of the film, but many of those coastal towns are architecturally similar so it's difficult to tell for certain. Can you do a screen grab of that?

Isn't Dungeness part of Romney Marshes?

This is Dungeness Lighthouse and presumably a view of the lighthouse on the film's poster.

Cheers DB ... what d'ya reckon? There's about twenty years difference in time between the two pictures. Looks pretty close to me. I have never been much of one for location hunting, but it's rather fun!

I think so. I did notice the side of the bus had a Maidstone and District logo.
