Was the exterior of the house shot at some location? Burgh Island maybe, as in the book? It doesn't look like Burgh Island...

It is unlikely to have been a house in the UK, the film was produced in Hollywood.

Looks like a studio set in the close ups and a glass painting or model above a real beach in the long shots. Burch Island is very art deco.

Great little film all the same - nice touches of humour. Puts some of the later bigger budget and TV Christies to shame

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

Some of the shots of the sea looked like the coast of California but what do I know. Excellent little film though but with Walter Huston slightly miscast, despite the monocle.
