My main interest is movie locations, and there have been loads of instances where the IMDb is just plain wrong. This was partly the reason why I set up my own locations site.

Also, there are loads of pages like this...
Octopussy (1983) - Filming locations
...Where the same locations are listed many times.

...otherwise, brilliant site, and British too! Wehay!
They have a lot of error checking, but they don't have, or claim to have, totally perfect error checking so some mistakes do slip through.

The locations for Octopussy don't seem to have many duplicate locations apart from listing Berlin as well as various locations in Berlin.

Because they do leave it as open as they do, if you ever spot errors then it would help if you correct them. That's the way it works.

I just had a quick look around your UK On Screen site and it kept giving me database errors
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /mounted-storage/home74b/sub007/sc42723-TDTD/ukonscreen/films.php on line 45

What you're doing looks to be a noble effort. How would it handle the million or so titles that the IMDb has?

IIRC mostly Blackpool; when the couple disappear to Llandudno we don't follow them, we stay in Blackpool and the Llandudno business occurs offscreen. Can't say about the early sound remake....
I always associate HW with Llandudno though; the idea being the workers of Hindle go to Blackpool for Wakes Week, the middle classes to Llandudno; when the illicit affair is revealed to have taken place there, the old matron declares via an intertitle "I'm not sure I fancy Llandudno any more" which just tickles me....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Oh bugger!

In the words of the great Captain Mainwaring - I wondered who'd be the first to spot that!

*ahem*

Problem due to the differences between my local database and the online one - should be fixed now! :)

You know what train spotters are like, they have to have every detail exacty correct. They want to stand in the exact position where the train is seen in every frame

In a way, I sympathise. When you have the specific knowlege, you want to show it off. Do people really want to know where every 2 second shot in a sequence was filmed? Probably not, but I'm gonna tell them anyway!

Default Llandudno Location

Hi All,

The scene in `Yanks` was filmed across the road from the Grand Hotel, and on the road around the Great Orme. Other scenes were filmed as previously mentioned in Stalybridge (My home town) Dobcross, Saddleworth, Hyde and Stockport. There is a tribute to the film every year at Uppermill & Dobcross called `The Yanks Event` which has peopkle in wartime dress, memorabilia, stalls, military vehicles and re-enactments, usually at the beginning of August or thereabouts.

The 1935 `Hindle Wakes` starring Belle Chrystall also used the Grand Hotel for scenes.

Dave.
