I don't often get the chance to drop by, but my favourite has to be the The Greyhound in Aldbury. It doubled as The Oddfellows Arms in the film Shillingbury Blowers (1979). It's had plenty of TV appearences (The Avengers, episode "Town of No Return", to name but one) but I can think of no other films connected with it.

Another that's just occurred to me....
A bit off the beaten track between Earsdon and Hartley on the Northumberland Border, is The Bee Hive. Lovely little hostelry that appeared only as an external shot in the film version of Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? (1976). The pub is actually only about 3km outside of Whitley Bay, though in the film it was meant to be somewhere in the remote Northumbrian Countryside. |

It was the village of Albury, Herts. that featured in that episode of Midsomer. As did Beaconsfield, Bucks., Bosham, Sussex and Chesham, Bucks. where 'The Cock Tavern' pub was also shown. Dave. |

The actual 'Mother Black Cap' became The Worlds End/Underworld (corner of Camden Road and High Street) where I used to work for three miserable years, but there are plenty of other pubs that have that name in London- and I walked past one recently, but can't remember where.
However, as the commentary states, most of the filming was done around the older suburbs of Milton Keynes, such as Wolverton and Stony Stratford- as the budget had run out and they couldn't afford London anymore. Ther's a pub in Crawley Market where the pub scenes in EVER DECREASING CIRCLES were filmed. |

![]() They were in the pub quite often so I'd always assumed that if it was a location (any interior shots are likely to be in the studio) then it'd be near Billingshurst where The Close (actually Dell Lane) and Paul's Salon (in Station Road) were to be found. Steve |

The actual pub used in 'An American Werewolf In London' was "The Black Swan" situated in Effingham near Leatherhead. As depicted in the film I believe the pub is located in a rural secluded area. Dave. |

Any of you film buffs remember a film called "SWALK" or "Melody" as it is sometimes called, starring MarK Lester & Jack Wild (ex of Oliver) made in about 1972.
The pub used in the scene where Jack Wild climbs over the wall next door and the girl visits her dad in the bar is The Ship, Kennington Road, London SE11. It's still there today. |
