Another great old film I got in a Sunday newspaper free, good performances from Margaret Lockwood and Redgrave, the only letdown is the toytown scenery depicting a snowy scene with a hotel, very cheaply done.

90% of The Lady Vanishes was filmed in a 90 foot studio. I think the model shots look pretty good as does Redgrave climbing between carriages.
Though it's slightly surprising that after the night where the train is buried in snow, it's cleared up enough for it be be described as perfect cricket weather (rather unconvincingly since everyone is wearing a greatcoat). |

You've obviously never been to a cricket match at Old Trafford!

That would be the best! Though I can't help wondering why they don't occasionally choose Torquay rather than war-torn Europe for their holidays.
Here's a question for you all. What are their first names? Last edited by CaptainWaggett; 27-04-2008 at 07:07 PM. |

According to the Stella Bingham novelisation it's Hugo Charters and Giles Caldicott.

I'm glad they aren't correct, they are a little mundane for them (apologies to any Hugos or Giles out there). I'd like to think of their full names as being Charters Charters and Caldicott Caldicott...
