Oh, the joys of ignorance.

I just saw a trailer for the American SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS. I don't know how much lower my expectations can be, but this trailer did it.

Default School for scoundrels

School for Scoundrels was on tv the other day, I wonder if anyone knows where the "tennis club" scene was shot?

The Edgwarebury Hotel, Edgwarebury Lane, Elstree ; a very short drive from Elstree Studios. If you search the threads here for Edgewarebury you'll find more info. AFAIK the tennis courts still stand. The hotel is now a Corus hotel...

CAR SHOWROOM: (A404) Pinner Road, Harrow, between Oxford Road and Devonshire Road. Was recently (may still be) a Hyundai dealership.

BLOCK OF FLATS: Mulberry Close, Parson Street (B552) - NW4

The car showroom in School for Scoundrels was in Pinner Road Harrow (opposite North Harrow Underground. Its original form has altered with a raised frontage but it was still a car dealership
(Datsuns I think) The block of flats Ian Carmichael lived in has been redeveloped (too much wasted space for film shoots?)and is now Golders Close, off Hale Lane, Edgware only really recognisable by the road opposite, seen when Terry Thomases Belini 3.6 roars away.I think he bent the back of it in the industrial est over from Elstree studios, look for the two Gasometers.

Magnificent
My Dad and I still quote lines from the scenes with the car dealers.

No way in heaven or in hell that a remake could come close to the original. I weep for the American film industry.

Not so John - please see my earlier posting; I stood outside the flats I mentioned earlier this year and they were very much occupied.

Talking Car showroom location School for scoundrels

The car showroom was situated on the Pinner road between north harrow and harrow. there is a bend in the road and the original building was sited there. Alas the winsome welshman no longer exist! however the houses that can be seen opposite and the petrol station still stand. ( a more modern building for the latter)
The houses that we see to the right of the showroom have been demolished and replaced by a building probably from the early 70's but the adjoining buildings to the left still retain most of the original frontage detail that can be seen in the film. (ie Dunstans ) This stretch of road still has a few second hand car showrooms on it, and i have been told by my father (now 84) that this stretch of road has long been associated with car sales and panel beating. I hope this is of use to you I live very near by and usually look at the building as i pass. PS an absolute peach of a film i have been enjoying since childhood.

Mr Sinclair - another line that always makes me chuckle is (from Peter Jones to Ian Carmichael) 'Yes Sir, it's the interpolation system of accounting' Ha!
