Ok this may seem a little odd to some, but I'm trying to track down any films that were filmed on the mean streets of Leeds. I can't recall seeing one movie that was filmed in my home city.

I do know that parts of Clocky Orange were filmed at the Uni. Any recommendations would be of great help.

Just check through the IMDb location tree for Leeds or anywhere nearby. It takes a while to load all those locations (even just the ones in England) but it's worth waiting for. Or you can go straight to the location tree for West Yorkshire.

The first one that springs to mind for me when you say "Leeds" is the Beiderbecke trilogy of TV movies/series if you count them. They were filmed in and around Rawdon, S eacroft and other parts of the Leeds area.

The Beiderbecke series was filmed at my school(Foxwood) I didn't think you could get details like this on IMDb, cheers for the heads up.

Also filmed in Leeds, Harry's Game. I remember this well as they used streets where student friends of mine lived. The changing of street names for filming caused huge confusion to drunk students late at night when the crews had gone and left the changed names in place.

I seem to remember the early 80's as the hightpoint of Yorkshire television drama, with a good bit of filming around Leeds. Most of this stopped when Yorkshire TV had to pay some vast sum (about £35m if the memory serves)) for its franchise, and had nothing left to produce decent sries after that on anything like the same scale. Granada got theirs for about 2 grand and history shows the result!

On Beiderbecke, I always found it amusing in one episode when the couple went up to the door of one pub I knew well, but emerged into the interior of a completely different pub I also knew.

Location finder extremely good by the way. Cheers Steve

You went to "San Quentin High"? I bet it wasn't really as bad as the school in the series. But that did have the advantage of two of the best teachers around, the laid back Trevor Chaplin (James Bolam) and the delectable Jill Swinburne (Barbara Flynn).

Great series, in fact they are 3 great series. I have them on tape but greatly enjoyed revisiting them when they were re-shown on ITV3 recently.

It was worse Steve

It is situated on one of the most notorius council estates in England 'Seacroft' we had this hippy teacher who showed us how to make joints, he got mos t upset when we didn't quite get the roach right 'man I don't want to blow my cool, but it's all wrong man' he would then rub his special stone(it was a smooth pebble, he counted to ten whilst rubbing it to keep his cool 'man')

I could tell you some seriously deranged stories, but they're a little tripple X rated. Good times though.

That's the joy of the IMDb. If you spot any omissions you are free to add them.
All changes are moderated and take a few weeks to get added but it's the way that they've built it up into a very impressive database. We all add the little bit of information that we know so that it can be shared with others.

I was speeking to a school pal today about this, one of our teachers(Mr Clayton) provided some of the rag time music for the series. I remember in his computer class we had to create a database using his 78rpm record collection.

Pointless trivia, but what the hell!

I really love that music from the Biederbeck Tapes/Connection/Affair - any one seen the music CD out there please?

Good morning boys.

There is an error on the IMDb that lists Sam Kydd as the locksmith in 'Up the Chastity Belt', it is in fact, Roy Hudd. Shall I go on and tell 'em?

Good morning boys.

Good morning boys.

The music for the shows was recorded especially for the programmes (with Kenny Baker as the cornet soloist). If you get the DVDs of the show you can enjoy the wonderful writing and acting as well.

But if you do just want a CD of Bix's music, the big online stores don't seem to have any although some specialist outlets do. Just google for "Bix Biederbeck" CD.
