Default Spanish Film Location

Can anybody help me identify this unique film location that is a mountainous region with many unusual rock formations. Major films that utilised this location are "Seventh Voyage of Sinbad", "Three Worlds of Gulliver", "El-Cid" and the climax to "Last Command".

Hello from Spain,
I am living since seven years here in Spain in the Alicante area. In the first year when I moved over here another German, living here years before me, spoke to me about El Cid and mentioned that it has been shot in the mountains close to where I am living now. It is app. 30 miles south of Alicante. Maybe you can check this area my using a seach engine.

Hello Wilfried. I searched google images under Alicante, but couldn't find anything that resembled it. Is there any chance you could ask in your area the name of the mountain range you mentioned?
Thanks for your help.

Hello again Stephen
Was looking at the Lawrence location of the desert scenes and came across Almeria. This has been used for a number of films.
If you put in Wikipedia+ Lawrence of Arabia you will come to the Almeria link. Sorry I can't give you the exact url but it is a strange one and this format would not accept it.
regards
Freddy

Hello Freddy. They built the city of Aquaba in Almeria for "Lawrence of Arabia". Also the compound in "The Hill" (1965) was built there.
