Forget about Holmes and Watson.
We've got Alan F and Spinalman.

Great work guys. Much appreciated by all Brit film lovers.

Cheers

Dave.

Well, I'm more than impressed, well done, both to Alan, who got it, but also to Spinalman, who put in so much hard work on this!

Cheers and thanks,

Nobby.

It's the north-easterly block in Mulberry Close. I took a couple of photos but now can't find the damned things. It's changed little except that in the 45 years or so since the film it's 'matured' a lot. It looked so clean then that I reckon it was just built and probably (mostly) unoccupied. Nowadays it's chock-a-block with parked cars.

You got that right Ady....

As long as I am in costume, that is ; I am one of those performers who can't stand being photographed as himself. Come to think of it, who IS 'myself' ? (He said, in a Sellers-esque moment.)

Good news, I have finally found the Green Man hotel, and it’s even closer to Shepperton Studios than Windyridge & Appleby. 0.0 miles to be exact. It’s Littleton House, in whose grounds Shepperton Studios were built. The only pictures I can find online come from weddingvenues.com but they do not show the doorway, except from the inside.

Here’s how the same doorway looked in The Pure Hell Of St Trinians

An Aerial view of Littleton House to show how many films I had to watch to try and find a better view (not much of a hardship) and how they relate to the house.

Finally, did anyone else notice that Embrook House school shown at the start of The Green Man (yes, I have now seen the film) is St Trinians.

PS. Anyone wanting to find the football pitch where the ball explodes or the clump of trees where McKechnie tries to bury the body can do it themselves.

Bravo! again. How did you make the connection Alan? This is sterling work.

Clearly the locations scouts/producers revist old lcations repeatedly for subsequent films...but even so, what was the clue that confirmed it for you?

Amazing work yet again - well done Alan.

Now then....do we have any members planning on a wedding, so we can have an excuse to hire the venue and get a proper look-see ?

(There's a point - when Mrs. Smudge decides we want to do that trendy vow renewal thing... A few years yet, though...)

Weren't the opening shots on the lawns in THE BEAST MUST DIE Littleton House as well ? And poss. the cricket match at the start of INVASION QUARTET ? There are loads more 'straightforward' spots of the house I've had over the years - must wrack me memory...

Nice work Alan !! Once again you get the Gold Medal !!

The architectural style of the doorway, the pillars into concrete bases, and window framing's all a bit of a mishmash , isn't it ? - looks like all the spare bits from the scenery dept.

- - and look at that hydraulic door-closer on the outside of the white door - what a bloop ! - obviously a busy exit.

Thanks for the informative post Alan,
Ady.

p.s. - AlanF is Ady's Hero !
