Hi.
The last photo submitted by me on 3.8.08. is at the entrance of the Gadebridge estate, which had not been built when Quatermass 2 was filmed. It was omitted from the previous week's submissions, and was taken from the other side of the road where my photo no. 3 was taken. It is the area where the marchers were heading for and had a dome on the horizon. At this point the road dips down out of view of both my photo and the film. Way down Galley Hill no where near the location area. It ends in what is known as Leighton Buzzard Road which runs through the large Gadebridge Park. Gadebridge Park partially adjoins the older and original part of Hemel Hempstead. I am not saying this because of its associations with the Romans, Oliver Cromwell, King Henry the 8th and Anne Boleyne, but because that area has also been utilized
for many other locations for both cinema and television. For example: The second Alf Garnet film, The Garnet Saga. BBC's Songs of Praise and Pie in the Sky.

Hi to all, I have been quite busy lately and this is my first time on in a while.
I was trying to pin down some other things related to the film and I'm wondering what those cone-shaped things seen hanging in several places in the lab building are. I'm also guessing that the panels that Marsh and Brand are operating are actually some type of audio related gear. There are two microphones with their cables all wrapped around them and speaker grilles are visible too. The radar screens are no doubt studio effects. In any case this does not diminish the overall effect of eerieness about. Of course I'm still wondering if the scenes supposedly in the outer entrance to the domes are actually in a basement of one of the studios, or if that was actually part of the plant. Since that sliding door appears to have been added in, I assumed that whole scene is filmed in the studio. Still scary though.
I noticed two hanging buckets in the county Police Station and wonder what those would be used for.
The more I watch the movie, the more curious I get.
Anyway, thanks again for all the pix and info.

hi phil,
the cones mentioned are 'fire extinguishers', and the buckets hanging hanging in the police station would contain sand - probably used to extinguish a fire as well.

My nephew thought the cones might have been megaphones that could be used to yell for assistance if a serious fire or whatever broke out. We both thought the buckets probably were for fire extinguishing but couldn't be sure. Now at least I know. I never would have guessed the cones as a fire extinguisher though.
Anyway, it's good to see someone come back on here since it's been quite a while now. I just got off the phone with a buddy from Florida and he asked me, clear out of the blue, when the last time was that I watched Quatermass 2. I then told him about my correspondence with all of you, the pictures, etc., and he was quite surprised and pleased too that I made the connections with all of you on the forum.
I'm still grinding away with Google Earth trying to make out more of the refinery, but I'm afraid I haven't really figured anythng else out. There's a structure at the very South portion that sure looks like that place that was supposed to be the dome entrance where the visitors "Will be taken down below" to presumably be "infected" with the alien entity. The shapes are very similar to the big beams in that place in the movie. I highly doubt that that is the place but the shape of those things is just like the shape of the end of the beams at the point where they meet the wall in the movie set.
