Default The Ladykillers location

Am I right in thinking that the boarding house backs on to a bridge over the railway lines into Kings Cross. I use the routa alot and can't think where it would have been.

According to Alan Fosters book 'THE MOVIE TRAVELLER' Mrs Wilberforce's house was specially built by Ealing at the end of Frederica Street off the Caledonian Road near Kings Cross. The house was dismantled at the end of shooting and the area has now been redeveloped to the point where it is virtually unrecognisable.
The ambush of the security van took place in Cheney Road behind the station.

But when Mrs Wliberfoce answers the door to the Proffesor, St. Pancras station is in the background, so although I agree that the house was built north of Kings Cross, her front door was south of St. Pancras! Also, the area where the lads robbed the bullion van is sadly no more... lost to the channel tunnel rail link.

The area between Kings Cross and St Pancras railway stations where the hold up was filmed has recently been swept away to make way for the channel tunnel railway. I know what I would rather see there!!!

I think when she opens the door the view outside is a plate shot, ie a photographic matte and not necessarily the real view but a "special effect". I would imagine interiors were studio bound including that shot of opening the door to the Professor.
