. . . . then straight ahead and round to the right ( about 200yds )
is the location used in the opening shots of Murder at the Gallop and Murder Ahoy :-

- the pub across the road is the Green Man and sells GreenKing IPA
(and nice cheese sandwiches !)

Hi, went to Denham yesterday to find Miss Marples cottage and also went around the corner to see the opening shots location. Nearly got knocked over by an old man on a bike, thought for a minute it was Mr. Stringer

Hi to all you location scouts !
The locations of Denham, Amersham, Aldenham, Hilfield Castle, Miss Marple's cottage,
Millicent's ladies outfitters, King's Arms pub, etc. are fairly well documented for the
1961-3 films of Miss Marple, but the locations I'm particularly interested in identifying
include :

. . The gates to 'the Ackenthorpe estate'.

This pic is distorted- road curves more past gates. There is a tee junction to a busy
main road (with a double-decker bus route) about 100yds through the archway.
The railway line appears to be running NorthWest'ish.
Where is this?
( see 14-15minutes in on dvd or end title sequence )
.
.
. . !!! FOUND BY AlanF !!!

. . The grass field alongside a railway embankment with a
little stone bridge (over a stream/drain ? ) seen in the "you
look for the hook whilst I look for the slice" golf scene
( 31-32mins on dvd ) , {(the locomotive is D603, 'Conquest', a
Battleship class.)(anorak)}
.

. . in "Murder Most Foul", "N.C & A. Reeves Grocery &
Provisions - post office Barratt " shop on a village green,
alongside Mrs McGinty's cottage. (11-12mins and 16-17mins on dvd)
.
. .and in "Murder Ahoy", the village 'overlooking the estuary' with
NatWest bank and RAC reg'd hotel ( 15-17mins )

Thanks again - Ady

Ackenthorpe Hall can also be seen in the DANGER MAN episode "The Lonely Chair". This would place it in the AVENGERLAND area. See Spot86

Default Location of Bridge near "Ackenthorpe Estate"

Good pictures! But can you tell me the exact location of this bridge, please?
