Default 'Dance Hall' locations

I've recently grown rather inexplicably fond of the 1950 Ealing film 'Dance Hall' and was wondering about the locations in the film and especially about the Palais itself.

I'm 99% sure that the 'Chiswick Palais' exterior used in the film is an actual building and not a set. Assuming this, does anyone who knows that area of London know where exactly in Chiswick it is, if indeed it is still there and hasn't been demolished or if it was actually a dance hall in another part of London going under the name of 'Chiswick Palais'. Also, is the Palais interior in the film a set or the actual inside of the building?

Also is the kind of central town square area recognisably Chiswick (and still as it was in 1950) and does anyone know if the tenement building which most of the female characters seem to live in is still there?

I've searched the web without much success so I'd be grateful if anyone knows the answer to at least one of my questions. Thanks

The location in Dance Hall was the Hammersmith Palais in Shepherd's Bush Road. Hammersmith is the neighbouring borough to Chiswick (part of Hounslow). The Palais still exists.

Thanks Dylan - looked up Hammersmith Palais on t'net and found that it is now called the PoNaNa, which is a rather daft name IMHO. Thanks again for the info.

That can't last long (I hope). It'll always be the Hammersmif Palais to us Londoners
