Just a few notes that may be of interest re. Brighton locations... some have been mentioned but I may be able to give clearer directions as a lifetime Brighton resident!
1. The little alley Jim and Steph escape up can be accessed most easliy from East Street, which is a street leading off the seafront road, very near to the Palace Pier (as you can tell in the film). It's on your left as you leave the seafront and if I remember rightly has a shoeshop on one side of it. The garden they have sex in has a lock on the gate, natch, but the whole space is covered in mod/Who graffitti not deterred by the fact it gets washed off regularly. Please be respectful of the residents if you do visit cos I know the people who live in the flat above and they get hacked off with it all!
2. The cafe the mods trash is on the corner of Ship St, on the seafront and again near the pier. It's worth a pilgrimage but it's now a not-very-brilliant chip shop with very rude service :)
3. If you're looking for the view Jimmy has of Brighon coming in on his scooter - don;t bother. It's not Brighton at all. It's Shoreham or something...
4. not in Brighton, but I have also heard that Alfredo's is now an S&M cafe in Camden. Hope it hasn't burned down. Shame it hasn't retained its original identity, but at least now it combines a Quad connection with excellent bangers and mash - what could be better?
This is my own question about locations: I've just moved to Shepherd's Bush (can't seem to live in non-Who areas!) and have already got all excited because I live 5 minutes from the famous Goldhawk Road Social Club where the who played their first gigs. But I also pass Goldhawk Road station every day, opposite which is a traditional pie, mash and eel cafe which looks very much like Jimmy's one in Quad (also situated almost under a railway bridge). Does anyone know if this is the filming location for that scene?
