Wink Two Way Stretch

Hi this is my first time on Britmovie so i'm a little unsure of procedure. My favourite film of all time is Peter Sellers in TWO WAY STRETCH and apart from the obvious location of Windsor railway station i wondered if any other members could shed any light on other locations used in this movie.

This is my fav as well I watch it a couple of times a month. I just love to see Peter Sellers crack up and turn his head away. As for locations the gatehouse and quarry scenes shot in Aldershot. As you drive into the town the gatehouse was on or next to a roundabout but the rest of the buldings are long gone. Have not been there for 15 odd years so not sure if the rest is still standing.

Welcome to the board Mr. Stringer -

Great choice of name, by the way

Shall have to revisit STRETCH as I didn't realise it had Windsor in it. I am a frequent visitor there and have mapped out a number of the more famous locations ; always on the look out for other bits of Windsor film. If I spot anything else in STRETCH, will let you know...

I pass here quite frequently and always wondered if the "gate" location was there. The gate is a little futher up the hill past the roundabout heading towards Farnham, a few hundred yards on the left. Just a couple of buildings remain, the rest of the location has been developed with private housing.

Apart from Windsor the station where Cribbins drops the jewel bag as the train passes through is Fittleworth on the Pulborough to Midhurst branch line - all long since gone.

I always enjoy TWO WAY STRETCH, and my favourite character the 'Reverend' Soapy Stevens. Every time I meet a vicar, I think of him!
Perhaps they run this film at the vicar training academies.....

Default robbery scene

Thanks for all your replies, it has certainly shed some light on a few locations for me.

While I'm on about Two Way Stretch, one particular location has always interested me, and that is the point where the armoured car goes under the bridge and is then hijacked on the other side of it.

To me it looks very similar to the bridge close to the entrance of Ackenthorpe Hall in Murder She Said.

Can anyone confirm that or give me an alternative location?

Probably under the former Great Western main line as Windsor station was used for the 'Soapy' scenes.

The bridge where the robbery takes place is at Brookwood in Surrey. It's at the point where the A324 passes under the London - Basingstoke line and forms a junction with the B3012.

Hi, That is most interesting Alan. Where did you get your info on this. I had always thought it was near to that area and recalled a bridge where there was a sharp turn after the bridge....or am I imagining a turn? In the film does it not see the convoy coming towards camera and bearing off to the right of screen? I know the Brookwood bridge (next to Necropolis) and that doesn't seem too familiar, nor have a turn.

I'll have to re-visit the film as I haven't seen it recently.

Paul

[quote=spinalman;57844] Hi, That is most interesting Alan. Where did you get your info on this

About 20 years ago I drove under that bridge and had one of those "I recognise this place" moments. Since then I have been past there many times but have never thought to stop and take photos. I checked out your Flash Earth link and I'm afraid you're looking at the wrong bridge, the correct bridge is a mile West of there. I have included a revised link, I would have added a video capture from a 1980s advert which used the same bridge but it seems I can't post attachments.

Hi Alan F
- posting pictures - go to a picture hosting website like Photobucket
and save your pictures there.
Next copy the URL link provided next to the pic, then paste this url into the "insert image" button in toolbar above the "reply" window. ( make sure you don't get two consecutive "http://" in the link)

( James had to tell me how to do this ! )
- 'can't wait to see the bridge pics !!!!!

Ah that's the one! Yes, that is probably the bridge I was thinking of too, but never drove back to corroborate! Thanks for that Alan, I'll now know where to look next time. Stand by! Stand By!

thanks

Paul

Advert ? - An advert for what , conceiveably ? !!!

" 20% off all keystones this weekend only . . . . . . ." ? lol

( and , if it was a recent advert, " NOTHING TO PAY FOR 5 YEARS . . . . " )

I love this site ! , Ady

I'll pre-empt TEXACO !! ( just seen your photobucket album)
