Incidentally - having visited the site a while back - I think a different location was used for the scene where the convoy, led by Bryan Forbes on the motorcycle, leaves for the robbery. The road as they exit the gate onto the road did not seem to match that at St Huberts.

I'v put this on another thread about this film. The army camp guardroom is the backgate (well it's about 20 yards too the right of the maingate) of Pinewood. There is another gateway to the left that was used as the entrance of the US ambassadors house in "WHO DARES WINS" 1982.

Afraid not - I could not get close enough to the house because of the long drive. With hindsight I should have photographed the entrance gate to confirm the other point I made. I think the photo evidence in this thread is pretty conclusive though. The aerial clearly shows the extension (or outbuilding?) to the left of the main house which features in the scene where Hawkins' and Patrick's cars arrive at speed on our first acquaintance with the location.

There are two other L.O.G. locations I'd like to tie down. The chain link fence, gate and brick building representing the armoury where the weapons are obtained. It's supposed to be Wiltshire I recall. Was it actually another Pinewood location (or perhaps Black Park)?

The rural junction where the team remove their disguises. I suspect this is somewhere around Fulmer.

As I had to go to Gerrards Cross today I took the opportunity to visit St Hubert's. It's not possible to get to the house - electronic gates, intercom and all that. Interestingly each of the gates has a deer's head. From the entrance one can see enough of the house to recognise it - the distinctive windows are easily visible, but not the entrance to the house and the stag's head. The house can also be seen from the perimeter road - but again not the entrance.

The grounds of the house are absolutely immaculate and although a lot can change in 40-50 years, I agree with Alan, the road and exit don't look like that used when the convoy departs.

Just finished watching this on Film4+1, it was also used as a location in The Persuaders! and The New Avengers.
