Default Barry Lyndon

Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece was filmed at five English stately homes and in seven counties of Ireland but where were the following scenes filmed?
1)The country lane the English red-coats walk up as a barn burns in the background.
2) The farm buildings at the Battle of Audorf where Redmond saves Captain Potzdorf.
3) The country estate home of the Chevallier from which Redmond flees the country in disguise.

No look with my previous post, so here's hoping with some success this time.
Where can the following locations be found?
1) The water garden where Redmond first sets eyes on Lady Lyndon.
2) The " gentleman's club " where Lord Bullingdn goes looking for Barry prior to their duel.
3) The interior of the pub where the injured Barry is taken after the duel.

No.1 was definitely at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. I think that's the best scene and best shot in the entire picture - that languid pan across the garden to that incredible Gainsborough-like vista.

Can't help with No.2 but No.3 was at Lavenham in Suffolk.

No, I mean the shot where Redmond and Barry are sat in the water garden as we see Lord and Lady Lyndon, young Bullingdon and Rev. Runt approaching from the distance. The shot you refer to is a short while later. I agree that scene is utter perfection. What about the reverse zoom with Quinn and Nora overlooking the river- in fact every scene is a masterpiece - best film ever? its certainly my fave..The pub exterior is indeed Lavenham ( guildhall ) but not the interior - anyone know.

I always assumed that the first shot of that sequence was also Blenheim - since you push the point I did some checking and you're right, that first shot of the Lyndons isn't Blenheim at all. Sad thing is, I haven't any idea of where it might have been and I speak (write) as someone who is extremely keen on gardening and will drive hundreds of miles to visit a famous garden. Since Kubrick assembled most of the cast for this shot it has to be in Ireland or the UK and I've trawled the websites of all the major suspects in those countries without success. It certainly isn't Powerscourt, Tullynally, Loughcrew, Castle Howard, Wilton, Corsham, Stourhead, Blenheim. Surely someone out there knows where it is?

Are you able to post any screen grabs? His old house isn't far from me so I could look around there.

Other locations were Longleat House in Warminster, Wilton House near Salisbury and Petworth House in West Sussex. Could it have been any of those locations? I think they used mainly interiors there but they may have nipped outside for that shot. There was also some filming in Germany using the complex of Palaces and parks at Potsdam but as pointed out all the main characters were in that shot and not sure if they all went to Germany for filming, it would seem unlikely but I wouldn't rule that possibility out when dealing with a Kubrick film!!

I have managed to identify the water garden where Redmond first sets eyes on the beautiful Lady Lyndon. It is ' The Italian Garden ' - part of Compton Acres Gardens, Poole, Dorset.

Congrats kevinfl on finding that. The way that various locations are so seemlessly stitched together is quite remarkable.
