(Fellwanderer @ Mar 16 2006, 12:59 PM) I suspect Wolfgang isn't be too far off the mark about commercial interests.
I'd imagine the producers of the version now in production must have obtained the rights from the Gallico estate and they may have a clause to suppress the original so as not to harm their films chances at the box-office and subsequently on dvd.

Egad. I'm glad producers of recent terrible remakes weren't able to squash competition like that. If this is true, I hope the Gallico estate was paid a handsome sum for the rights, in effect burying the fine original (forever?).

Best,

Barbara

I have been lurking in the forums for a while, but seeing this thread I just had to post.

My wife loves Paul Gallico, Jennie is her favorite book closely followed by Thomasina and The Snow Goose. I managed to get a copy of the R1 edition of Thomasina from Canada, but no luck with The Snow Goose.

Can anyone help with a copy of this movie?

All the best

Just been scrolling through some of the messages, but as a new subscriber do not fully follow the jist of the Snowgoose film/dvd/video theme.
The original Richard Harris and Jenny Agutter film was very, very moving and I cannot listen to Camels Snowgoose without my eyes prickling and flashes of the film racing through my mind.
Can anyone let me know where I can obtain a copy of the film, please?

Hi Fellwanderer,
Keep meaning to ask you for a copy of the 1970 "Snow Goose". I dimly remember it as being superb, but it seems quite rare, and I'd love to see it again. Was reminded of it after watching "The Railway Children" again recently, and did an IMDB search.
Don't seem to be able to PM you - seems to be turned off by default since the last board change, but you can PM me.
Can you help?
Geoff

Thank you.
This would have been better asked in the Looking for a Video/DVD (film) section so I have transferred it there but you have a pm anyway.

I'm also looking for The Snow Goose.

I read the book in my teens and it seemed familar. My mum told me we'd watched it when I was very young and that she and my sister had been in tears at the end.

Spike Milligan did this on audio tape some years ago - Spike was forever against 'blood sports'.

Good morning boys.
