This is the longest of long shots. In about 1971 Granada TV put late on a Friday night under the title "See our next thrilling instalment" a serial from the days of cinema matinees made I think in the late 20's early 30's called "Detective Lloyd of the CID" in which the eponymous hero did battle with a Raffles type villian called "The Panther". There were about 12 episodes. If anybody remembers it that would be a start as it would enable me to corroborate something that all my pals seem to deny. And joy of joys if anyone knows where I could get a DVD of this or other similar material. It always began with a chap sitting at a desk reminding us of what had happened in last weeks 'thrilling instalment'

Thank you Batman. Because it was only a week by week serial I had not though to look on imdb- but it was very informative albeit carrying the tragic news that the series is considered lost. If anybody knows of any similar material that is not lost I would love to hear about it. Thanks
