I don't think the BFI have a viewing copy. Or do they? I imagine they have the film itself. IMDB reviews indicate it has been shown on US cable TV.

It's one of the rarer Margaret Lockwood films - especially considering she was at the peak of her popularity when it was made.

It's probably all to do with it being made by a small production company who only made a few films than disappeared...

I worked on the film, and did not disappear!

I assume you didn't have the foresight to make off with a copy so it looks like you're going to have to recreate the story in mime for us Any reminiscences or working with the lovely Mr Price?

Working along side Mr Price and Ms Greenwood,if I said I was in envy of Mr Llewellyn Moxey it would be a very large understatement

There is a viewing copy in the BFI and at least one member of this board has a copy (not me!) but they cannot share it due to conditions imposed by the BFI. I suppose we could all pay £600 or whatever it is to get a time-coded copy from the BFI??

I notice this thread has been dormant since Oct 2010 - does anyone have any up-dated information as to the availability of THE WHITE UNICORN please? Many thanks.

It's still highly sought-after. Who actually owns the rights to it? I asked Granada a few years ago, and they said it was not in their library. Evidently, they were just distributors, and don't own the copyright to the actual film. John Corfield Productions made the film, and they also made Bedelia - which was shown on Carlton Cinema. So it's possible it might be in the ITV vaults somewhere. I believe it was last shown on UK TV in the late 1960s.

I wouldn't hold my breath but I suspose Network could surprise us all by including it as an extra on one of their Justice releases......

Surely their priority would be Dear Octopus?
