Hi Jean Pierre....don't know the film (It's the 1925 film, incidentally, not the Leslie Banks 1939 one) but I do know a bit about New Era, the distributors.....they were based in Darblay Street, just off Wardour St in Soho, run by Gordon Craig; they seemed to specialise in producing or distributing patriotic flag-wavers of a nautical flavour, often with Naval co-operation...'Zeebrugge ' is another of theirs, as is 90 Degrees South, and their 1928 'Q Ships' features Jellicoe as himself. They also dabbled in animation at this time...an AA-co-production on motor-car maintenance led to the 'Bonzo' cartoon series, which ran to 26 cartoons in late 24/25. With the late-20's economic downturn New Era were reduced to a few quota quickies and documentary shorts....though John Grierson's Drifters was and remains an iconic film to the documentary movement...and New Era folded in about '35 when Craig went to run (IIRC)Movietone News. All of which is probably irrelevant ......

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Really fascinating! thanks penfold

Funny how my research on movies shot in malta has uncovered 3 movies in which H Bruce Woolfe was involved either as director or producer.

Bolibar and tell england are the first two ... but just last week i discovered that in 1925 Bruce Woolfe was in Malta shooting a tale of fiction on the Mediteranean fleet in Malta. The article i found reports that the story was written by a well know author TAFFRAIL (Captain Taprell Dorling D.S.O. R.N.)

i am suspecting the movie to be Sons of the sea since it was released in 1925 ... however i have as yet not found a direct link between this TAFFRAIL and Sons of the sea.
