Can anyone help me locate the 1939 version of FOR THOSE IN PERIL 1939. I am an avid collector of War movie and am willing to trade or purchase a copy of this film.

Yes Captain Waggett, it is a 25 minute TV play starring Richard George directed by Edward Poor Montgomery.

I'd be amazed if this survives, or was ever recorded, but good luck. I'd be interested to know which is the earliest UK TV play to survive.

The earliest tv play to survive is this one from 1953. Certainly neither the BFI or the BBC have ever suggested that any complete pre-war plays were recorded by any means - the best you can hope is that a stills photographer was hanging around or, if you are incredibly lucky, a newsreel cameraman. There may be something about it in the Radio Times though

Thanks Captain. There were a couple from the late 40s I'd wondered about, this obviously rules them out.

Thank you for the information. You always hope that some of these will be found but it is important to know if it is a dead end, so time can be focussed on those more likely to produce a positive result.
